Your pets are welcome!
Pets enhance the quality of life of older people
Creature comforts in your Tertianum home
Senior citizens often have to part with their four-legged friends when they move into a retirement home. This is not the case at Tertianum: pets are very welcome in our senior residences, residential homes and care centres provided they are well trained and looked after by their owners or relatives.
Owners must be able to look after walks, feeding, grooming and visits to the vet independently. If they can, it is even possible to have a pet in the nursing care unit. Needless to say, care must always be taken in a nursing facility to ensure that the animals do not disturb other guests. Hygiene and support must always be guaranteed if the person in the nursing unit falls ill. In addition, careful attention is given to any allergies of other guests or staff before a pet is purchased or moved into the nursing home. This is for the benefit of everyone.

The advantages of having a pet
Pets increase well-being. They create a relaxed atmosphere and have a calming effect.
Animals trigger feelings of happiness in people. Within a short time, they often become an important point of reference for people who are receptive to them.
We can communicate with animals in many ways: through touch, by our reactions and gestures. Even people who can no longer speak well can communicate with animals.
Animals promote exercise, give their owners everyday responsibility and help create a routine. They also promote social interaction.
