Dr. Ole Wiesinger, Chairman of the Board of Directors

Chairman of the executive board, Dr Ole Wiesinger is an internationally renowned healthcare specialist. He started his career in surgery and emergency medicine before moving into hospital management. From 2004 to 2008, he held the position of general manager at the Klinik Hirslanden hospital in Zurich before taking over as CEO of the Hirslanden Group until the end of 2018. In addition to numerous appointments to the Hirslanden board, he was also a member of the executive board and the international management team of the South African Mediclinic International hospital group. Wiesinger was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Board of the Tertianum Group in 2020.

Boris Zoller, Vice President of the Board of Directors and Capvis AG representative

Boris Zoller has been Vice President of the Tertianum Board of Directors and representative of company owner Capvis since 2020. He holds a Master’s degree in banking and finance from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and has been a member of the Capvis investment committee since 2008. As Managing Partner, Zoller heads up the investment team, focusing on the healthcare sector. He previously held the role of strategy consultant at Oliver Wyman management consulting.

Prof. Dr. Sabina Misoch, Member of the Board of Directors

Prof Dr Sabina Misoch has a proven track record in the area of ageing research. Since 2014, she has been a professor and head of the Institute for Ageing Research (IAF), which she founded at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST) in St. Gallen. Since completing her doctorate in sociology in 2004, Misoch has held various positions in research and teaching: initially at the Universities of Potsdam and Dresden in Germany, followed by a senior research position in the Department of Sociology at the University of Lucerne and, from 2010 to 2013, as a junior professor for media and communication studies at the University of Mannheim, Germany. As head of the IAF, she works in close collaboration with her interdisciplinary team to find effective and sustainable solutions to meet the challenges of demographic change in Switzerland. Her research interests include digitalisation, new technologies and robotic solutions for older people. In addition to several national and international projects, Misoch leads "AGE-INT", the largest national research project to address the challenges and opportunities of demographic change. She has been a member of the Tertianum Group Board of Directors since 1 April 2023.

Philippe Frutiger, member of executive board

Philippe Frutiger began his career in the hotel industry with an apprenticeship as a chef at the Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel, Interlaken, Switzerland. Having held various positions in Switzerland and abroad, he opened the Lenkerhof alpine resort in 2001. Together with Daniela Frutiger, he has been CEO of the Giardino hotel group since 2010 with responsibility for the Group's corporate image. Prior to this, the Bernese Oberland native had already held the position of general manager and delegate of the board of directors of the Hotel Giardino Ascona, Switzerland from the end of 2006. The husband and wife duo are responsible for hotel design and strategic development at Giardino Services, which was founded in 2021. Frutiger was nominated to the board of directors of the Tertianum Group in 2021 and is also on the board of directors of the Arosa Kulm Hotel.

Andreas Hugener, Member of the Board of Directors

Andreas Hugener has a proven track record in Human Resources Management and is a representative of the owner Capvis. He holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Human Capital Management from the ZHAW University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Hugener is Head of HR and Investment Principal at Capvis. Prior to this, he held a number of management positions at an international level. He joined the Tertianum Group Board of Directors on April 1, 2024.

Executive board

The executive board is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Tertianum-Group. It defines the corporate strategy and sets the framework conditions for operations and financial control.

Dr. Luca Stäger, CEO

Before taking on the role of CEO at Tertianum in May 2010, Dr. Luca Stäger held the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Swiss Paraplegic Group in Nottwil, Switzerland. He began his professional career at Price Waterhouse as a consultant, specialising in NGOs, public administration and the pharmaceutical sector. He then went on to become deputy project manager and head of quality and controlling at the Canton of Zurich Health Department, project management consultant at PuMaConsult GmbH, Zurich and Berne, CEO of the Spital Lachen AG health centre and director of the Privatklinik Bethanien AG clinic in Zurich. Stäger received his doctorate from the University of St. Gallen in 1994. He is an EFQM assessor and has completed advanced training in integrated service management, among other things. He is also a member of the board of directors at the Clinica Luganese SA hospital in Lugano and Sanitas Beteiligungen AG in Zurich. Furthermore, he is a Patria co-operative delegate and member of the board of trustees of the Swiss University Sports Foundation.

Nicolas Crognaletti, CDO

In his role as Chief Development Officer (CDO) since 1 March 2023, Nicolas Crognaletti has responsibility for the strategic growth of the Tertianum Group. Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) with responsibility for French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino from March 2020. He worked for the BOAS Group from 2007 to 2015. While there, he initially held the position of deputy general manager before being promoted to general manager in 2010. In this role, he was actively involved in the operational management of 11 hotels and 18 care facilities for seniors. Until 2007, he was director of a large retirement and nursing home in the Canton of Valais in Switzerland over a 15-year period, and president of AVALEMS (Association of Valais Retirement and Nursing Homes) from 1998 to 2009. In addition to his own personal commitment to promoting ethical principles based on strong values such as quality, well-being, independence and respect, Crognaletti has always been involved in numerous associations advocating for the development and future of our healthcare system. He holds a degree in nursing and a Swiss federal diploma in the management of social institutions. He is active member of the army with the rank of colonel.

Daniela de la Cruz, COO

Daniela de la Cruz has been responsible for the operational management of all regions of the Tertianum Group since September 1, 2024 in her role as Chief Operating Officer (COO). She took over from Luca Stäger, CEO of the Tertianum Group, who had occupied the position on an ad interim basis since the end of 2022. Daniela de la Cruz has many years of professional experience in the healthcare sector. Before moving to Tertianum, she had been CEO of the Swiss Cancer League since 2019. Under her leadership, the association's strategy was recently developed to focus specifically on reducing the number of cancer cases and improving the quality of life of those affected and their environment. Daniela de la Cruz previously worked for over four years as a manager at Hirslanden – initially at the Hirslanden Klinik Birshof in Münchenstein from 2015 to 2017 and then at the Hirslanden Klinik Beau-Site in Bern until 2019. She was also a member of the Hirslanden Group operational management in 2017/18. From 2012 to 2015, she was head of the health division at the department of finance and health in the canton of Glarus. From 2002 to 2006, she was director of therapy services at the University Hospital of Basel. Daniela de la Cruz is a qualified physiotherapist and has a degree in business management, a Master of Advanced Health Services Management and various other management training courses.

Stefan Knabl, CFO

Stefan Knabl has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Tertianum Group since 1 March 2023, with responsibility for finance and risk management. After completing his bachelor's degree, he began his career in 2007 at Credit Suisse as a client advisor for corporate clients. From 2008 to 2015, he held various management roles at UPC Switzerland (now Sunrise) in the areas of controlling, mergers & acquisitions, business integration and business development. In 2017, he moved to Liberty Latin America in the USA as Vice President Finance, where he was responsible for financial planning and reporting for Cable & Wireless plc. Knabl joined the Tertianum Group in May 2021 as head of finance and controlling. The highly experienced finance expert has an MAS in corporate finance and completed an executive management program at the INSEAD Business School in 2015.

Barbara Schuler, CHRO

Barbara Schuler took over the role of Chief Human Resources Officer at the Tertianum Group on 6 February 2023. She is responsible for the entire HR department at Tertianum. Schuler has a broad range of expertise in the strategic and operational development and management of HR organisations in large international companies. She began her career in 2000 as HR business partner at Credit Suisse, where she worked as global HR business partner until 2011. From 2011 to 2015, she was head of global HR business partners for the finance and assurance functions at Zurich Insurance Group. She then went on to work as group head HR service delivery and deputy CHRO for the Avaloq Group until 2018. In this role, she was responsible for the delivery of operational HR services in the various countries. Schuler has spent the last four years as head of the HR shared services centre for the Hirslanden Group. During her time there, she successfully established a centralised HR shared services organisation with hubs for two specific language regions. She holds a degree in history and religious studies, and has over 20 years of experience in HR. She has completed various advanced training courses throughout her career, including CAS compensation & benefits management, international HR management and human resources management.

PD Dr. med. Ryan Tandjung, CMO

Ryan Tandjung took over the role of Chief Medical Officer at Tertianum on 15 August 2021 and heads up the areas of health and quality. From 2006 to 2011, he worked at the Spital Lachen health care centre and University Hospital of Zürich and completed his training as a specialist in general internal medicine. From 2011 onwards, he carried out research and taught at the Institute of Family Medicine at the University of Zurich. In addition to his work at the university, he worked in a GP practice and was involved in various committees focussing on medical education and training. In 2016, he took over as head of health professions at the Federal Office of Public Health, and in 2019, moved within the office as head of health insurance benefit. Tandjung earned his habilitation at the University of Zurich and completed an eMBA from Bern’s private university of business.

Extended executive board

The regional managers and the head of communication & marketing are represented on the extended executive board. The committee is responsible for managing operations in the regions, as well as communication and marketing within the Tertianum-Group.

Franko Behrendt, Regional Manager Eastern Switzerland

In his role as Regional Manager, Franko Behrendt has had responsibility for Tertianum residential and care centres in Eastern Switzerland since September 2021. Prior to this, he held the position of managing director at the Tertianum Résidence centre in Bern from November 2020. Having spent 8 years working as a paramedic and quality manager in emergency rescue, he began his managerial career in 2004 as head of social services at the German Red Cross. Between 2005 and 2017, as managing director and board member, he assumed operational and strategic responsibility for the non-profit organisation and its subsidiaries. In 2018, Behrendt moved to the private equity company Alloheim SE, where he initially worked as Regional Manager and later as Chief Operating Officer/North West Region. He holds a degree in business administration and a Bachelor of Science in leadership and organisational consulting, with a specialisation in leadership and management. He has been developing his expertise in the areas of occupational health management and positive leadership continuously since 2019.

Stefan Brunner, Ticino and Valais Regional Manager

In his role as Regional Manager, Stefan Brunner has had responsibility for Tertianum homes in the Ticino and Valais region since 2020. He joined the Tertianum Group in 2007 and has already overseen the openings of six new residences and two takeovers. He was also managing director of the Tertianum Residenza Al Lido in the town of Locarno and Al Parco in Muralto in the Ticino region for several years. The hotelier began his professional career at the Sheraton Hotel in Zurich. He went on to work as managing director for various Mövenpick restaurants. Brunner holds a Bachelor of Science from the Lausanne hotel management school and a Master of Advanced Studies in economics and social and health management from the University of Lugano, Switzerland. He has a degree in business administration (‘économiste d'entreprise HES’) from Lausanne and a degree in gerontology from the ZfP institute of further education.

Hans Bühlmann, Regional Manager Zürich

In his role as Regional Manager Zurich, Hans Bühlmann has had responsibility for residential and care centres since 2022. Prior to this, he was responsible for public catering at the Zurich Women’s Association, having managed catering operations and strategy as a member of the executive board at Lucerne’s Culture and Congress Centre. From 2008 to 2016, he was hospitality director and a member of the executive board of TITLIS Bergbahnen, Hotels & Gastronomie. Bühlmann kickstarted his professional career in the kitchen and in service before attending the hotel management school in Lucerne. He completed an executive MBA at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in 2016 and operational excellence (EFQM) in 2019. He held a part-time lecturing position in intercultural management for many years at the Lucerne school of hotel management, with a particular focus on India, and has been a board member in the hotel sector since 2009.

Dimitri Mocellin, Regional Manager for French-speaking Switzerland

In his role as Regional Manager, Dimitri Mocellin has had responsibility for Tertianum homes in the cantons of Vaud, Neuchâtel and Jura since 2020. He trained as a nurse in France and later graduated from the University of Geneva with a diploma as head of a socio-medical institution. Mocellin began his professional career as a nurse at the Perreux cantonal hospital in Neuchatel, where he worked as a psychiatric nurse and later as ward manager from 1996 to 2005. In 2006, he moved to another psychiatric facility, Fondation Espace, as head nurse. He then went on to work for 14 years at a psychosocial care centre at the Foyer du Parc in Couvet, where he managed several sites and even founded a site himself. Mocellin is a board member of Switzerland’s association of care and support service providers (FEDEPS) and vice president of the board of trustees of the Fondation Espace.

Frank Nehlig, Head of Communications, Marketing & Public Affairs

Frank Nehlig assumed responsibility for corporate and marketing communications as well as public affairs of the Tertianum Group in May 2022. He was previously head of corporate communications at the Hirslanden Group from 2016 to 2022, where he also took over responsibility for marketing in 2020. The communications specialist began his career in 2001 as chief editor at Amplexor, a content lifecycle management solution provider with base in 22 countries. Following a stint of two and a half years as communications manager at Angst+Pfister, Nehlig worked in corporate and marketing communications at the Bühler Group technology corporation from 2008 to 2016. During his time at Bühler, he played a key role in the group's reorganisation in 2014 as head of corporate communications. He holds a Master of Arts in literature and linguistics from the University of Konstanz and a Master of Advanced Studies in communication management and leadership from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

Roger Zintl, Mittelland Regional Manager

Roger Zintl has been Regional Manager for the Mittelland area in Bern since April 2020. He had previously worked as head of sales and marketing and head of marketing and communication for Tertianum since 2015. Zintl started his professional career with a commercial apprenticeship at the Kuoni travel group. He later moved to Swissair as a call centre agent. Following this, he held numerous positions in the Swiss travel sector before becoming revenue management & pricing division manager for Kuoni. Zintl studied operational strategy transforming leadership, customer service excellence (CAS) at the Henley Business School at the University of Reading in the UK. He also completed advanced training in e-commerce & online marketing (CAS) at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and the advanced management programme in healthcare transformation (CAS) at the University of St. Gallen.

Luljeta Amza, Regional Manager Participations

As Regional Manager, Luljeta Amza has been responsible for participations within the Tertianum Group since March 2024. Prior to this, she had been working as "Project Manager Operational Organizational Development & Consulting" as part of the CEO team since April 2023. Amza started her career at Tertianum in September 2017 as Head of Nursing and Care in the Bubenholz residential and care centre in Glattbrugg in the canton of Zurich, before taking on the role of Managing Director there in July 2020. In December 2021, she moved to the position of Managing Director at the Villa Böcklin and Villa Restelberg centres in Zurich. Amza holds an Executive MBA with a specialization in strategic management. Originally qualified as a trained nurse (College of Professional Education and Training), Amza has been working in the healthcare sector since the age of 15 and has roughly ten years of management experience in various positions.
